What is it?
Now in its early stages of development, the John Adelard Durand Scholarship Program was established with
memorial gifts and donations received by the family of John Adelard
Durand after his untimely death in 2002 at age 37. Occasional
contributions and proceeds from an annual fund-raiser bike ride called
JohnnyRide have since increased the Scholarship Program fund.
Each year the Scholarship Program makes several Academic Scholarship Awards. These awards are announced annually
on May 8 (John's birthday). Research Awards are available as funds
permit. Research Awards may be made at any time.
The number and amount of Awards will increase as the
Scholarship Program fund grows through continued fund-raising, cash
donations, gifts, and bequests.
Eligibility
Awards are made without regard to race, creed, color, gender or family
relationship. Preference is given to applicants who have not received an
Academic Scholarship Award or Research Award. Membership in the Durand
Heritage Foundation is not required.
