John Adelard Durand (May 8, 1964 - April 25, 2002)
John will be remembered for his fine and enquiring mind,
his steadfast loyalty and dependability, and an elemental sweetness of
soul. In his free time he loved reading, flying private planes, and
driving his red Miata convertible.
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, he received a bachelor of arts
degree in history from the University of Wisconsin there. After living
in Madison for 34 years he moved to Texas with his wife, Gaye, whom he
married in 1999. He was a man made whole by marriage. People say that
when he and Gaye walked ahead on the street they were like peas in a
pod.
John had 17 years of military service in the U.S. Army
Reserves and the U.S. Army National Guard Reserves, and although he had
opportunities to become an officer he preferred the enlisted ranks. He
was a Staff Sergeant and a Tank Commander in Troop E of the 105th
Calvary until he went on inactive status.
He enjoyed a varied early work life, but came to like the
challenges of helping others by working in computer support, which was
his career before his sudden death during a post-operative procedure. |
